Any company using a biocide not on the ‘Article 95 list for the product type(s) to which the product belongs’ will be withdrawn from the European marketplace. You can view the announcement on the ECHA (European Chemical’s Agency) website: http://echa.europa.eu/biocides-2015.
ProEconomy and Article 95 Listing
ProEconomy Ltd are founding members of the copper and the silver task forces. Therefore we are in the Article 95 listing for both copper and for silver. This means that ProEconomy will not be affected by the Biocidal Products Directive September 2015 deadline and will be able to continue to use their product to successfully control Legionella and Pseudomonas bacteria in water systems throughout the UK.
If you search ProEconomy on the article 95 list you will find our inclusion on product types 5 and 11 (bathing and drinking water). This covers both copper and silver.
You can read more about ProEconomy’s use of copper and silver for water treatment, here.
The article 95 list is downloadable online on the ECHA website: http://echa.europa.eu/information-on-chemicals/active-substance-suppliers or can be downloaded here.
